MBIT to fete seniors

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) will holding its annual Senior Recognition Ceremony 6;30 p.m. Monday, June 7, at William Tennent Alumni Stadium, 333 Centennial Road, Warminster.

There will be access to the live streaming of this ceremony through the MBIT website at mbit.org. Tickets are required to attend ceremony.

Middle Bucks students will be reporting at 5:45 pm to prepare for the ceremony.

Kathryn Strouse, MBIT administrative director, will offer the welcoming remarks.

Jack Ulmen, a student in the automotive technology program and Central Bucks High School West, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Allison DeMaio, who will be singing the national anthem. DeMaio is a third-year student in the cosmetology program and a senior at Central Bucks High School South. She recently earned her Pennsylvania State Cosmetology license and plans to attend Hofstra University in Long Island, New York in the fall.

The student speeches will be delivered by Madelyn Kovaleski and Maggie Rutledge.

The first speaker of the evening is Kovaleski, a senior at Central Bucks West and a third-year student in the medical and health profession program. She is a member of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) in 2020. She is also a member of the Philanthropy Club at MBIT. She plans on pursuing a career as a critical care/trauma nurse at Duquesne University Honors College.

The second speaker is Rutledge, a senior at Central Bucks South and a third-year student in the culinary arts and science program.

She served as SkillsUSA vice president in 2020 and 2021. She received the SkillsUSA Officer of the Year Award for 2021 and has also served on the Philanthropy Today Committee. She will attend Bucks County Community College before transferring to a four-year school to major in baking and pastry with a minor in business management.
