Letter to Congress: Shocked, disappointed

Posted

I would like to take some of your time and express my thoughts and concerns over the events our country has recently witnessed. Like most Americans, I have been shocked, disappointed, angered and frustrated by the actions that have occurred.

I fear that we are approaching a point where we are going over the proverbial cliff. And I feel it is way past time for the elected leaders of our country to get over the prevailing pettiness and get on with the job they were elected to do.

Enough of the “us vs. them” attitude. Enough of the “my way or no way” attitude. Enough of the petty playground antics that we, as upstanding American citizens, were taught at a very early age is not acceptable behavior.

When thinking about how our country is so divided, we can easily look to Congress for the answer. Our elected leaders lead by example. I can remember the time when elected leaders were respected as shining examples of dedication to the greater good.

When sworn into Congress, members affirmed to be leaders, to guide our country and to work together to serve all of the people all of the time. It’s time to get to work.

Along with the rest of our great country, I am looking to Congress and our president to be the leaders that we pray that they can be.

I thank you for your time and I will be glad to discuss these thoughts with you or your staff any time.
