Interview with Doylestown author and artist being livestreamed

Posted

The new year begins with an hour long, live-streamed television appearance by Doylestown artist and author Joan Reed Treweek on New Arts Alive!

The program, a BCTV (Berks County Television public television) series, rebroadcast in New York and Philadelphia, features New Arts Program director James Carroll in conversation with national and international artists from a broad spectrum.

Carroll’s guest at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, is Joan Treweek, with discussion centering on “Amazing, Grace! True Stories Told by Grace Kuhns Reed,” both illustrated and written by Treweek.

The growing-up stories told by her mother, Grace, inspired Treweek to create a series of pastel/mixed media paintings and then to write the stories, each story a single page long, but with a lifetime of humor, pathos, and grace contained. “Amazing, Grace!” is a book for all ages, but with stories titled “The Outhouse” to “The Gospel According to Sears Roebuck.”

Along with sharing stories from “Amazing, Grace!,” Treweek will show new paintings that form the basis of the book’s sequel. BCTV’s streaming format will allow her mother and family in central Pennsylvania to have a first glimpse of what is coming. Viewers in Bucks County who are more familiar with Treweek’s visual artworks will have the opportunity to become acquainted with her written work.
