Film subject shares redemption story

Posted

The Christian Business Men’s Connection in Doylestown presents Mark Whitacre and his wife, Ginger, at Doylestown Country Club, 20 Country Club Lane, Doylestown Saturday, March 7.

Featured in the movie “The Informant” and Discovery Channel’s documentary “Undercover,” Whitacre helped change the way business is conducted around the world.

At 35, he was a vice president at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), and a leading candidate to become next company president. Whitacre uncovered a price-fixing scandal and traveled the world for three years wearing a wire for the FBI in one of the largest white-collar crime cases in U.S. history.

His own actions during the process led to eight years in federal prison and a time of despair. Ginger held the family together.

Since 2006, Whitacre had been an executive with Cypress Systems, Inc, involved with cancer research. In January, he joined Coca Cola full time to lead a division at the company’s headquarters.

The four FBI agents involved with Whitacre’s case tout him publicly as a “national hero” for his assistance with one of the most important white-collar crime cases in history.

Whitacre’s story is about hope, family commitment, redemption and second chances, and a family overcoming extreme adversity, against all odds.

Check-in is at 5 p.m.; the buffet starts at 5:45 p.m. The cost is $35 per person and $70 per couple. Registration is required by Tuesday, March 3, via Eventbrite or at 215-859-7291; leave your phone number, name and any guests’ names for confirmation.
