Driver revived by police; charged with DUI, related charges

Posted

Officers from the Upper Makefield Police Department administered two doses of Narcan (Naloxone) to the driver of a truck that crashed into a light pole at 9:15 a.m. Monday, April 26, after they found him unresponsive but with a pulse.

Police said they found a hypodermic needle and two small blue envelopes with a white powdery substance on the front passenger seat, and a fresh injection site on the man’s left forearm.

The driver, later identified as Rocko J. Marchiano of Philadelphia, regained consciousness and became alert and oriented due to the efforts of the officers. Medics arrived and Marchiano refused to go with the ambulance to the hospital.

Due to the fresh puncture marks on Marchiano’s left forearm and the drug paraphernalia, Field Sobriety Tests were administered.

After the conclusion of the tests, it was determined that Marchiano was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Marchiano was placed under arrest for the suspicion of driving under the influence and multiple other charges, including possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving. Marchiano is awaiting his trial at this time.
