The weather may have been pretty gloomy, but nothing could rain on Central Bucks West’s parade.

The CB West girls track and field team won its first state title in program history on Saturday at Seth Grove Stadium in Shippensburg, which hosted the PIAA Track and Field Championships May 28 and 29.

The Bucks’ girls 4x800 (9:20.15) and 4x400 (3:55:69) relay teams raced to Class 3A gold in their respective events while the 4x100 relay team finished eighth (49.67). Kate Edenson won the girls 800 in 2:12.36 followed by teammates Emmi Simon in sixth (2:16:12) and Carlin McFadden in eighth (2:17:43). Chloe Timberg, who set a new state record this spring, continued her winning ways on Saturday, clearing 13 feet to top the podium in the girls pole vault. Mimi Duffy’s performance in the girls 200 (24.75) garnered her a silver medal.

The Bucks finished with 53 team points, 22 more than their next closest opponent, second-place Hempfield.
