Car crashes into Dublin Hardware store

Two people sustained only minor injuries Tuesday, when a car crashed into the front of the Dublin Hardware store at the intersection of Route 313 and Maple Avenue.

Dublin Police Chief Michael Regan said the driver of the Toyota Camry was attempting to turn left onto Route 313 Westbound from Maple Avenue, but she missed the road and instead drove into a parking lot and struck the building.

The chief said shelving and wood fell down on the store owner who was working behind the counter.

Regan said both the store owner, Scott Phinney, 64, of Hatfield, and the driver, Edna Ott, 83, of Dublin, sustained only cuts and scrapes, and there was no one else in the car or inside the store at the time of the crash.

The chief said Dublin Fire Co. shored up the wall and secured the building. The car was towed.

Reached Wednesday, Phinney said he was awaiting a visit from his insurance company.
