Bucks artist Jerry Cable creates new Christmas card

Posted
Bucks County artist Jerry Cable announces the release of his 2020 artist edition Christmas card; this year’s image celebrates a local landmark in New Hope.

Smoke and steam billow from old engine #40 as it departs the 1891 witch’s hat-style train station.

The inside verse reads, “I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams ... Best wishes for a peaceful and safe holiday wherever Christmas finds you.”
With a nod to the changes in holiday gatherings this pandemic year, Cable said, “I wanted the card to be uplifting as well as sensitive to losses we have all experienced this year. With travel restrictions and limits on family gatherings, the idea of actually being home for Christmas seems not only nostalgic but, for many, the only safe option.”

Throughout his 50-year career, Cable has won numerous awards and has exhibited in over 50 juried exhibitions, including The Philadelphia Sketch Club and The National Art Club of New York City, along with more than 35 solo exhibitions in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Maine, Connecticut and Ohio.

His Christmas card tradition began when he was a young boy making hand-made Christmas cards for his family. A native of northeast Ohio, his early production methods using block prints, linoleum cuts, and hand-tinted photocopies could produce only a few dozen cards. Today’s digital offset printing process is more refined and allows the artist to print thousands of cards.

“Many customers have been collecting my cards for more than 20 years and I receive card orders from across the country,” said Cable.

The inside message of the card is also crafted by the artist. The card is only available online. To order visit jerrycablestudio.com.

Cable’s award winning paintings are known for their emotional impact, dramatic lighting, and capture the timeless romance of the American landscape. His work is represented by galleries in Maine and throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He holds a BFA from Pratt Institute in New York City.
