Artsbridge series pays virtual visit to Harry Boardman

Posted

Artsbridge’s 2021 Distinguished Artist Series begins with a virtual visit to Harry Boardman’s studio, gallery and home, all housed in a former cigar factory in Souderton.

He and his wife, Heather, a glass and jewelry artist, “took a rough dirty shell and turned it into a warm inviting space full of art.” Inside, you’ll find his works mostly “done in oil pastels: messy, rich and a unique blend of drawing and painting.”

Using dark outlines and strong compositions, he takes “unique views of the world,” elevating everyday scenes that “might go overlooked but are totally worth acknowledging.”

Using the same brand of pastel created for Picasso, he will demonstrate the technique he developed over the last 20 years.

Visitors who Zoom into his presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 will get to see his “lush wax crayon” drawings that “feel like a painting,” take a tour of his studio, and can ask questions.
