Artist-filmmaker Bill Jersey to exhibit at Stover Mill Gallery

Posted

Landscape painter Bill Jersey – showing at Stover Mill Gallery in July – began his film career as the art director of the iconic sci-fi movie “The Blob” starring Steve McQueen. Filmed in Phoenixville, it is still screened there every year.
Then came 60 years as an award-winning filmmaker and an Oscar nomination for his documentary, “A Time for Burning.” Painting only part time until he moved to Lambertville, N.J., Jersey’s first submission to the Phillips’ Mill invitational garnered him an award and a sale to Gratz Gallery.
With his Stover Mill Gallery exhibition of his “Hopperesque style” and new impressionistic work, Jersey will turn 94. “No reason,” he says, “to slow down now!” The exhibit titled “Explorations” is open from 1 to 5 p.m. June 26 and 27, and July 3 and 4, 10 and 11, 17 and 18, and 24 and 25.

The Stover Mill Gallery – housed in the restored 187-year-old Stover Mill, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places – is located along the Delaware River at 852 River Road (Route 32), Erwinna; two miles south of the Frenchtown Bridge and 15 miles north of New Hope.
Owned and operated by the nonprofit Tinicum Civic Association, all proceeds are used for the support of nonprofit groups serving the Tinicum and the surrounding area, and for the maintenance of the historic Stover Mill.
