Cordus Mundi opens season with concerts, live recordings
Male a cappella group Cordus Mundi opens its ninth concert season with two area performances.
Music from both concerts will be recorded for inclusion on “Tracks,” Cordus Mundi’s first commercially available compact disc, to be released in January.
Cordus Mundi concerts will be held at Church of the Messiah in Gwynedd, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
At both concerts, Cordus will be performing and recording music from throughout its extensive repertoire; the program includes several “Cordus favorites,” new music, and two world premieres.
Selections come from a variety of composers and arrangers, including Parker, Dowland, Chesnokov, Farmer, Clarke, Poulenc, Rosen, Carmichael, Tchaikovsky, Hagen, Barnum, Brown, Casals, and more.
“Our audiences have been asking for a CD for quite awhile, but all of the elements haven’t come together up until now,” said Cordus Mundi founder-artistic director Rick Rosen.
Tickets for the concerts are $15, and are available from Cordus Mundi members, at the two church offices, or at the door. For information, call 650-219-2748, or visit Cordus Mundi online.
