Ruthie Foster performs one-woman show in Quakertown
When Ruthie Foster takes the stage at McCoole’s Arts & Events Place in Quakertown on Jan. 11, she will bring accomplishments that include Grammy nominations for “Best Contemporary Blues” (2010), “Best Traditional Blues” (2012), and being the winner of the three most recent Koko Taylor Awards for “Best Female Blues Artist of the Year.”
She’s comfortable on stage, whether rocking out with her powerful band, sharing the bill with legends like Warren Haynes or Eric Bibb, or performing by herself under the spotlight, as she will be for her Quakertown show.
Foster has been compared to blues queens and soul divas like Etta James, Ella Fitzpatrick and Aretha Franklin, yet, “Diva” is not the tag befitting the rural Texas charm she shares with her audience. “She has the power of dynamite and the warmth of chicken soup.”
The show is the first in a series hosted by Parlor Concerts in partnership with St. Luke’s University Health Network’s Quakertown campus. Tickets start at $32.
For tickets and information, visit the McCoole’s Concerts website, phone 484-358-3868 or e-mail email@example.com.
The theater is located inside McCoole’s Arts & Events Place at 10 S. Main St., Quakertown.
