New life from old

Danawa Buchanan sings a Native American blessing for the 500-year-old Columbus Oak at
the foot of Bowman’s Hill. The Solebury Township Historical Society named it the Piestewa
Tree in honor of the first female American Indian soldier to be killed in combat, Lori Piestewa.
Lightning struck the old tree in 1999.
