Engaged artists exhibit together at Hutton Galleries

“Study for Incoming Fog at Hoppenville House I,” is a watercolor by Bradley Hendershot.

Patricia Hutton Galleries, Doylestown, will present a dual show for Pennsylvania award-winning artists Bradley Hendershot and Katharine Krieg.

The exhibition titled “Bradley Hendershot & Katharine Krieg: Times and Places,” will open with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. Both artists will be in attendance.

The show will include both watercolors and oils. Hendershot is well known for his detailed, historically accurate and sensitive renderings of houses and farms throughout the Pennsylvania countryside.

He often records the details of this disappearing architecture on the reverse of the paintings.

When not painting Pennsylvania, Hendershot is painting the wild, remote shores of Monhegan Island, Maine, where he spends much of his summer with fiancee Katharine Krieg, who shares this exhibition with him.

His watercolors emphasize detail and textures designed to evoke a strong feeling or mood in the viewer.

Often his paintings exhibit his keen interest in history and depict a way of life that is rapidly disappearing into the past.

Hendershot is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and a signature member of the PA Watercolor Society and the Philadelphia Water Color Society. His work appears in public and private collections worldwide.

Krieg also paints in both Pennsylvania and on Monhegan Island. Inspired by her surroundings, her oils and watercolor paintings are her response to everyday encounters and experiences ranging from peaceful interiors to the turbulence of nature.

A quiet sense of introspection and the passage of time are themes that recur in her works of landscapes and still life.

Krieg studied at Mansfield University, with Carlo Russo, Martin Piekzonka, and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. She has been part of many exhibitions. including those at that Pennsylvania Academy, the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, and the Philadelphia Sketch Club.

She is a signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and has been a juror for the Philadelphia Sketch Club.
