Veterinary hospital to expand in East Rockhill

CHRIS RUVO

Pennridge Animal Hospital has a green light to expand.

On Aug. 28, the East Rockhill-based pet-care facility received approval from the township board of supervisors to construct an approximately 2,000-square-foot addition.

“We are basically planning to double the size of our office to allow for a larger waiting room, additional examination rooms, and a larger treatment area,” Dr. Beth Mehaffey, a veterinarian and the facility’s owner, said in an interview.

Mehaffey said the business has grown considerably, prompting the need for the addition.

“We want to be able to help all of our patients in the same, down-to-earth way that we always have,” she said. “To do that, we need more space. We’re confident that the extra space will allow us to do what we already do even better.”

Additionally, Pennridge Animal Hospital plans to start offering acupuncture starting in 2019. “We are very excited to offer this service,” Mehaffey said.

It’s possible Pennridge Animal Hospital could add two or three new employees, according to testimony on Tuesday.

The pet care hospital provides a full range of veterinary services. Those include everything from spay and neuter and preventative healthcare, to dentistry, cardiology, various types of surgery, and more. The vets also provide a mobile service for in-house visits.
