Galerie Stockton shows works of Malcolm Bray

“Hebrides 8” is an oil on paperboard by Malcolm Bray.

Malcolm Bray will present a new series of paintings on paper at Galerie Stockton in the Stockton Market, 19 Bridge St., Stockton, N.J., on Friday, Aug. 10.

Bray, who was born in England and now lives in the Stockton area, will present a group of large works from his “Hebrides” series, inspired by the coastline of Scotland, which he said, is “littered with islands.”

Galerie Stockton is run by Gary Snyder, a New York City gallerist who opened the small gallery, which focuses on works on paper. This will be the second exhibition at the gallery; the first focused on works from the 1920s through the 1950s by Josef Meierhans.

Bray studied at Hull College of Art in England; he immigrated to the United States in 1984. Shortly thereafter, he began exhibiting in the New Hope area, winning numerous local awards.

He has exhibited in New York City at Cheryl Hazan Gallery and Spanierman Modern. His work was recently included in “The Bigger Picture,” at Ellarslie Mansion, Cadwalader Park, Trenton, N.J.
