Union Hotel sale agreement signed

Jack Cust of Urban Renewal LLC, has an agreement to purchase the Union Hotel in Flemington, N.J., from its owner, Steve Romanowski.

The fate of the historic hotel has been a contentious issue since Cust presented his redevelopment plan.

Mayor Phil Greiner announced the agreement at Tuesday’s Borough Council meeting and Steve Romanowski, owner of the hotel, confirmed the agreement with Curtis Leeds, editor of TapInto.net of Flemington.

The agreement includes three properties, the hotel, the Potting Shed building and its Spring Street parking lot. Romanowski, said the price for the package of properties was more than $2.5 million.

Agreements had already been reached but now signed contracts are now in place, according to both the mayor and Romanowski.

Mayor Greiner said he will request that Cust withdraw a request for condemnation through eminent domain.
