Guitarist Uli Jon Roth forced to cancel Sellersville show

KEVIN L. HALL

Work visa problems have forced the tour postponement of guitarist Uli Jon Roth, who was scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Sellersville Theater 1894.

The guitarist, notable for his time with German rock band Scorpions in the 1970s, and acclaimed for his innovative six-octave Sky Guitar and bluesy blend of neoclassical and psychedelic styles, issued a statement in June on his website.

“We’re very sorry, but our tour of North America will have to be postponed ... We are forced to do this because our work visas unfortunately didn’t get issued on time ...”

The announcement also lamented the state of visa work grants for international artists wishing to perform in the United States, saying an increasing number were not being issued on time.
Web links for Sellersville tickets were still available as of last weekend, but when tried, the page said the show was canceled.

Sellersville Theater promoter Bruce Ranes said Roth’s agent is “currently targeting next spring” for the rescheduled appearance. All VIP packages purchased will be honored, according to Roth’s website. For refunds, contact Ticketfly or the theater box office for information.
