St. Andrews in Yardley installs new rector

The Rev. Hilary Greer will be installed June 17, as rector of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Yardley.

The Rev. Hilary Greer will be installed Sunday, June 17, as rector of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Yardley.

The 9 a.m. service, open to the public, will be led by the Rev. Canon Betsy Ivey of the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The Rev. Sharline Fulton, one of the first women to be ordained in the Episcopal Church and a former rector of St. Andrews, will be part of the service as the church on Lake Afton celebrates both its history and its future.

The service will be followed by a “rain or shine” picnic under a tent on nearby church property. The public is invited to attend the picnic as well.

“We are extending an invitation for all local residents to join us as we celebrate the church’s life in the larger Bucks County community,” said Greer.

The June 17 date is a significant one for the Yardley church; the church’s sanctuary was consecrated on June 17, 1890.

Greer graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio and later earned her Master of Divinity degree while at the University of Connecticut.

The Yardley church is known for its many and varied outreach programs.
