Solomon’s United Church of Christ installs new pastor

The Rev. Dorothy Shelly was installed June 4, as pastor of Solomon’s UCC.

The Rev. Dorothy Shelly was installed June 4, as pastor of Solomon’s UCC by the North Penn Association of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.

The guest preacher was the Rev. Scott Hutchinson, and the Rev. Suzanne Spaulding officiated.

Shelly graduated from Ursinus College and Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Prior to Solomon’s, her ministerial calling was with Phoebe Ministries, serving in pastoral care at Phoebe Richland HCC.

She is board certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains and is past president of UCC Chaplains and Counselors as well as the Pennsylvania Society of Chaplains.

Ministry is her second career after having a first career in nursing.

Shelly is a published poet and is the author of two books, “Anybody See My Shoes? Poetic Reflections From A Chaplain” and “Don’t Wait Too Long.” Her poetry has appeared in numerous periodicals.

She resides in Telford, Franconia Township, with her husband, Bruce. They have a daughter and a granddaughter in Bedford.

Solomon’s UCC is at 2990 Bedminster Road, Perkasie (Bedminster Township) and observes its 175th anniversary this year. Summer Sunday worship time is 9:30 a.m.
