Realist McInerney shows at Hutton Galleries

“Daybreak at Westport” is an oil painting by Gene McInerney.

Patricia Hutton Galleries presents “Gene McInerney – Realist,” opening on Saturday, May 20, with a reception from noon to 4 p.m., with the artist in attendance.

Gallery owner Patricia Hutton said McInerney’s work gives the viewer a sense of being there.

“Visitors to the gallery will always ask me about Mr. McInerney’s painting techniques because the work is so unusual, detailed and smooth,” she said. “This is your chance to ask him in person how he achieves what he does.”

The show will include many pieces that have just been completed and have never been seen before. The subject matter includes landscape in all seasons, ponds; docked boats; marine work, including several new ocean scenes; and still lifes.

McInerney, who has been painting for 60 years, now paints primarily in oil. He has exhibited widely for many years and received numerous awards, including those from the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic and the North East Watercolor Society.

He was a member of the Winsor & Newton’s first Artists Advisory Panel. He has shown in the Uptown Gallery in New York City as well as the Snow Goose Gallery in Bethlehem, at Capricorn Galleries in Md., and at East Stroudsburg University. Juried shows include the Art of the State, PA, Allentown Art Museum, and the Art Association of Harrisburg International Exhibition.

The gallery is at 47 W. State St., Doylestown. Call 215-348-1728 or visit online.
