Gehring named Mount Carmel Woman of the Year

The Ladies of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Doylestown held their 68th annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday, May 7, at Doylestown Country Club.

The guest speaker was Meghan Cokeley, director of the Office for the New Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Donation baskets filled with various gifts and gifts cards by local merchants were raffled off.

Mary Lou Gehring of Doylestown was named Woman of the Year for her contributions to the Ladies, the community and the parish.

Gehring is a longtime member of the Ladies, having served as president, secretary and board member. She is active in the State Street Players, the OLMC School play production, volunteers in the parish rectory and is a Eucharistic Minister.

She also is an active member of the Doylestown VIA. Gehring was a Special Education teacher and a Learning Consultant before her retirement. Her husband, Bob, was present for the special presentation of an engraved plaque, signifying the importance of her dedicated service.
