Young Musician Competition winner performs with Newtown Chamber


Newtown Chamber Orchestra (NCO) will perform the final concert of its 28th season, “Viennnese Connection,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Lutheran Church of God’s Love, 791 Newtown-Yardley Road, Newtown.

Music will include: “Coriolan Overture” by Beethoven, “Symphony No. 92 in G Major (Oxford)” by Haydn, “Symphony No. 38 in D Major, K504” by Mozart with 2018 NCO Young Musician Competition winner Robin Park on cello.

Park will play Haydn “Cello Concerto No. 2, D major.” He has been playing the cello since age 6 and is now in 11th grade in West Windsor Plainsboro High School North in Princeton Junction, N.J. His current private teacher is Priscilla Lee.

Park has won several competitions and has performed as a soloist with Sinfonietta Nova, Summit Symphony and Old York Symphony. He was named Honorable Mention Winner of the National Young Art Foundation Competition in 2016 and 2017, and he was invited to participate in New York Young Arts Regional Program in 2018.

Park is a part of the Myer Schwartz Piano Trio as an Advanced Study Scholarship student of Settlement Music School. Most recently, he was accepted to 2018 National Youth Orchestra of United States of America (NYO-USA) hosted by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Fluent in four languages, he also plays the saxophone.

Tickets are $25 for adults and seniors. Students with a valid ID pay $10, children under 12 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance through the NCO website. There will be open seating, ample parking and complimentary refreshments.
