Toe Tappers mark St. Patrick’s Day

Tappers ready to perform: Marie Dean, Jean Vest, Ida Belke, Linda Wilson, Judith Sandelands, Jeanne Evans, Molly Bailey, Mary Ann Black, Dorothy Prisco and Dolores Witkowski.

The Toe Tappers open their spring season with a show to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Wesley Enhanced Living retirement community in Doylestown on March 9.

The show features lively tap numbers to some of the most loved Irish songs with some Irish comedy sprinkled in for laughs. Songs include “If You’re Irish,” “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” “Harrigan,” “The Band Played On” and “McNamara’s Band.” A highlight of the show is four Toe Tappers doing an Irish jig to “Siemsa” from the Lord of the Dance. Other tappers perform an Irish jig to “Who Threw the Overalls in Mrs. Murphy’s Chowder.” For the finale, all Tappers are on stage to end the show with “It’s a Great Day for the Irish.”

The Toe Tappers are a group of fun-loving retirees who love to tap dance. Most learned their tap dancing skills at classes given by the Toe Tappers teaching staff. The Tappers practice every Wednesday at the Central Bucks Senior Activity Center in Doylestown. Newcomers are welcome and tapping experience is not required. Visitors are welcome to tap practice on Wednesdays at 12:45. For information, call 215-598-9885.
