Monk to lead prayer retreat during Renewal Weekend

Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church welcomes the community to Renewal Weekend events, featuring Brother Joseph Wallace-Williams, on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.

Brother Joseph is a monk at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, N.Y.

On Saturday, Brother Joseph will lead a half-day prayer retreat with a focus on forgiveness. The retreat begins at 9: a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. and coffee will be available at 8:45 a.m. The fee for the retreat is $10.

On Sunday, Brother Joseph will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services. The weekend concludes on Sunday evening with a Vespers Service with special music from the Princeton Seminary Gospel Choir at 5 p.m., followed by a covered dish dinner.

All events will be held at the church, located at 1680 Aquetong Road, New Hope.

Before entering seminary, Brother Joseph served as outreach director and youth minister at Trinity Church New Orleans and as lay chaplain for several organizations in the city of New Orleans focusing on the prevention of HIV and AIDS among young black gay men. A native of New Orleans, he has also worked as a youth minister and with foster and adopted children in the city of Thibodaux, La.
