St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville, N.J., hosted the Caritas Chamber Chorale Saturday, March 4, for a concert of sacred songs for Lent.
The chorale consists of singers who represent different faiths, ages and backgrounds with a shared devotion to the art of sacred music and a commitment to serving poverty-stricken people.
Caritas Chamber Chorale Director Barbara Sanderman led the choir in its program titled “Unrelenting Love,” which included arrangements of “Angelus Domini” by Franz Biebl and “Bogoroditse Dyevo” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, among others.
The proceeds of the freewill offering will benefit the Gianni Diurni Primary School established by the St. Francis Caracciolo Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, an area which has been the victim of natural disaster, disease, warfare and poverty in recent years.
