New Hope-Solebury Library earns state Silver Star status

The Free Library of New Hope and Solebury has been awarded Silver Star status in the State Library Association’s PA Forward Initiative.

The program was conceived to give voice to what the library community already knows, and what other states throughout the nation are also recognizing: With the right support, libraries are ideally positioned to become the community centers of information, technology, and learning that will fuel educational and economic opportunity for all of our citizens.

By earning Silver Star status, the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury has demonstrated its commitment to its community by regularly providing programming and resources in each of the five literacies. Programs have included estate planning, CPR, computer help, managing diabetes, smoking cessation, navigating Medicare, book discussions and author visits, and maximizing Social Security benefits.

The Free Library of New Hope and Solebury is in the midst of its annual fundraising drive. To meet its operating budget, it needs to raise $100,000 beyond what the local municipalities allocate to it each year. If you would like to learn more or donate, visit nhslibrary.org/donate.
