Guest artists featured in SFA fall show

“Jonathan in Cambridge” is an acrylic on panel by Elizabeth Snelling.

SFA Gallery in Frenchtown, N.J., presents a fall group show featuring guest artists S. Coulson Downes of Philadelphia and Elizabeth Snelling of Durham, both painters.

New works by selected gallery artists will be displayed at the same time. The show runs from Nov. 11 through Dec. 31.

An opening reception for the artists will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

Founded in 2011 by painter John Schmidtberger, SFA Gallery exhibits artists whose work won’t neatly fit into categories like “Realist,” “Traditional” or “Abstract,” but instead combine elements from each to forge a more personal approach.

Visitors to the gallery at 10 Bridge St., Suite 7, have come to expect more unusual, surprising and challenging work from SFA artists, many of whom are not exhibited elsewhere in the area.
