Bucks County’s first “Artist in Residence,” Alan Fetterman, is opening a new gallery, Alan Fetterman Fine Arts Gallery, at 181 E. Court St., Doylestown.

All are welcome to the open-gallery event: “Bucks County Within,” opening show hours, from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6; and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7.

“Bucks County has been my home for a lifetime. Creating in and around our landscape and community is both insatiable and endearing to me,” said Fetterman.

“This new gallery in the heart of Doylestown at the top of the hill seems to epitomize the right place to hang my paintings and my hat, and my intentions and hopes are to have many arts and cultural gatherings here that can be shared by many,” he added.

With a legacy of 42 one-person shows in galleries throughout the region, Fetterman is a highly recognized and award-winning American artist, who produces work sought and collected for continuing the Pennsylvania and Bucks County impressionist and plein air traditions.

A painter, sculptor and poet, Fetterman has been presented with the Philadelphia Sketch Club Medal of Honor for Excellence and Contribution to the Arts.

He is a Kay scholar with a degree in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate from Bucks County Community College with a degree in American Studies.

In addition to solo exhibitions, Fetterman has showcased various creations in more than 150 art galleries in places diverse as Carmel, Calif., Curitiba, Brazil, and Vero Beach, Fla.

He is a long-standing participant and board member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and a past member of New York City’s Salmagundi Club. His work and life have been profiled in dozens of magazines, columns and books, including features in “A Bucks County State of a Mind” and “The Embraceable You.”
