Newtown Chamber Orchestra presents “Soloists on Stage”

The Newtown Chamber Orchestra, celebrating its 28th concert season, will perform its second concert this season: “Soloists on Stage,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Lutheran Church of God’s Love, 791 Newtown-Yardley Road, Newtown.

Soloists that will perform are:

•Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano (No. 4 in Bb Major Op 11 (Ludwig van Beethoven) Karl Krelove, clarinet; Katarina Kormanski, cello; Don Tenenblatt, piano;

•“A Jazz Medley”- Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One (Karl Megules/ Arranger) Ed Hirschman and Steve Schaffner, trumpets; Nancy Ciarcciarlli, French horn; Peter Reichlin, trombone; Karl I. Megules, tuba and Artistic Director; Lennie Pucciatti, percussion;

•Trio in D Minor, Opus 32 (Anton Arensky) Maggy Simon, violin; Chris Simon, cello; Lisa Simon, piano;

•Handbell Selections (TBA) Risë Kagen-Erickson, Handbells; Clipper Erickson, piano; and

•Piano Quintet in A Major, D.667 Op. 114 “The Trout” (Franz Schubert) James Day, violin; Joel Rudin, viola; Bruce Mikolon, cello; Bliss Michelson, double bass; Lauren Aloia, piano.

The third concert, “Viennese Connection,” will take place on April 14. The 2018 Young Musicians Competition Winner also will perform with the orchestra.

Individual concert tickets are: $25, or $20 for seniors or $10 for students with valid ID; children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance. There will be open seating, and complimentary refreshments are served at all concerts.
