Roundabout project to restrict Easton Road in Doylestown Township

Posted

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said construction will continue on a project to improve safety by constructing roundabouts at the intersection of Easton Road and New Britain Road/Sauerman Road in Doylestown Township.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

•Tuesday, April 30, Easton Road will be reduced for 24 hours to one lane at the intersection with New Britain Road. During the lane closure, motorists will be directed to use Lower State Road, U.S. 202, and Easton Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT will construct two adjacent single-lane roundabouts at the bifurcated intersection of Easton Road and New Britain Road/Sauerman Road. The roundabouts will include new drainage and sidewalks; ADA-compliant crossings; bicycle facilities, lighting, and full-depth pavement reconstruction.

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $3.9 million project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.
